5 Fintech Mockup Tools for App, Dashboard and Crypto Screens (2026)

A fintech app mockup is a still image of a banking, payments, portfolio, or crypto screen with numbers you typed in. Marketing teams use one when the real product is unfinished, when staging data is empty, or when a live account would expose a customer. The image is for a landing page, a deck, an onboarding doc, an app-store concept, or a course slide. It is not an account statement, and it is not a customer's balance.

This comparison looks at five tools people actually reach for in 2026: Screenshot Maker, Figma with a community UI kit, Canva, PNLGEN, and Mockly. Prices below are what those companies listed on the pages we opened in October 2026. Where a price was not published, the table says so.

What the mockup has to do

Use it for a hero, a feature crop, a lesson slide, or a social image of the product UI. It still needs numbers a reader can scan and a caption that says the figures are samples. If the page is making a traction claim, use an export from your own dashboard and say so.

How to choose

Ask six things: Can you edit every number? Is there a free export, and does it need an account? Are the layouts brand-neutral? Does the product say the image is simulated? Is there a phone frame? What file do you get? Figma will build a screen Canva cannot. Canva will ship a social card while you are still naming Figma layers. PNLGEN will not draw a billing page. Pick for the screen in front of you.

The five tools

Screenshot Maker

Best for crypto and fintech app screens when you want a PNG from the browser. Free templates include Business Payments, Portfolio Value, and Crypto Wallet. Pro is $7 a month or $59 a year for the rest of the library. Skip it if you need a fully custom design system or a wallet brand the library does not ship. The finance templates and crypto templates are the two places to start.

Figma, plus a community fintech UI kit

Best for product design: components, auto layout, and a clickable prototype when the work is a flow. Figma's Starter plan is free. In October 2026 a Professional Full seat was listed at $16 per month, billed annually. Community files called "fintech app template" or "banking app mockup" vary in quality, and you still check the file's license. Skip Figma if you only need to change three numbers on a finished screen.

Canva

Best for a quick social graphic around a screenshot you already have. Canva Free exists. In October 2026 Canva listed Pro at US$180 per year for one person. It is a poor fit for rebuilding a banking UI, because the charts are generic design objects. Skip it when the screenshot has to follow a specific app layout. See Screenshot Maker vs Canva vs Figma.

PNLGEN

Best for crypto share cards and wallet layouts, exported as PNG. Pages we opened in October 2026 showed a watermark control and a wallet connection, and no public USD subscription. Details we could not verify are on Screenshot Maker vs PNLGEN. Skip it for a payments dashboard, a stock portfolio, or a SaaS billing screen.

Mockly

Best for one Stripe-style chart: MRR, volume, new customers, or successful payments. The chart tool is free, needs no signup, and exports a PNG with no watermark. You set the metric, currency, dates, and line. The separate render API is listed at $99 per month. The chart page says not to present sample numbers as real revenue. Skip it when you need a full app screen or a crypto wallet.

Template counts are a poor column here. Screenshot Maker ships a fixed library. Figma and Canva ship millions of general templates, almost none of which are your screen. PNLGEN and Mockly publish specific generators rather than a number you can compare fairly, so this table leaves that cell out on purpose.

Compliance notes for fintech marketers

A mockup becomes a problem when a reader could think it is a real balance, a real payout, or a customer's result. A few habits keep the image in the "illustration" bucket.

  • Put "sample data" or "product preview" in the caption or the alt text, next to the image, not in a footer three screens down.
  • Do not pair the image with a sentence like "our customers withdrew this" or "this is yesterday's book."
  • Prefer a neutral product name over a real bank's logo. Logos are trademarks. A generic layout does not need permission. A copied mark does, and it can still imply the bank produced the picture.
  • Do not use a real customer's name, email, account number, or a shortened address that identifies someone.
  • If the figure is a teaching example, round it and say it is an example. $10,000.00 of "today's volume" reads as a demo. A precise $10,482.17 next to a real company name reads as a statement.
  • App stores, ad networks, and securities rules are yours to follow. The image tool does not clear them for you.

The same rule covers crypto cards. A PnL layout is a picture of a screen. It is not proof of a trade. If you are teaching how to read entry, mark, and ROI, say that in the sentence beside the image.

FAQ

Can I use a fintech mockup in an App Store listing?

Use a mockup on your own landing page, in a deck, or in a lesson. An App Store listing is supposed to show the app people will download. For that gallery, capture the shipping build. Do not submit a sample balance as if it were a user's account.

Do I need permission to show a bank or exchange logo?

Yes, if you use their trademark. A brand-neutral screen that does not copy a logo is the simpler default. Even with permission, do not imply the bank or the exchange created the image or verified the numbers.

What is the difference between a mockup and a prototype?

Edit numbers in a template, then export a screenshot

Create a screenshot to get more engagement.

Pick a template, edit the numbers, and export.

A mockup is a still picture of a screen. A prototype can be clicked. Landing pages, ads, and slides usually need the still PNG. A product team testing a flow needs the prototype, which is what Figma is for.

How do I keep the numbers realistic?

Pick one currency, one date range, and totals that survive a quick division. If the screen shows both revenue and customers, the implied amount per customer should fit the product. Round numbers and a visible "sample data" line are safer than an overly precise total. For a worked version of that check on a SaaS screen, see how to create a SaaS dashboard mockup.

Start with a free screen

Open Business Payments if the story is volume, Portfolio Value if it is a brokerage total, or the Crypto Wallet if it is a holdings list. All three export a PNG with no account. Caption the file as a simulated demo before it goes on a page.
